Solar Farm Launch and Earth Day

On 22nd April 2015 we celebrate Earth Day with the launch event for our brand new solar farm here at Ransom Wood. Following a successful planning application in October 2014 work began on our 3.4 acre site to install over 2,000 solar panels.  The panels will feed the generated electricity into our substation and this energy will then be used to help provide power for Ransom Wood Business Park. As we celebrate Earth Day, an international event, we have arranged a variety of activities and items of interest which you may wish to come along to.  Have a go on a wind powered trike, take part in some drumming, test drive an electric car courtesy of Inchcape Toyota or try a spot of outdoor yoga. Sweat Lodge at Ransom Wood

Sweat Lodge at Ransom Wood

The next Sweat Lodge event will be held here at Ransom Wood on Friday 27th March from 6.00 p.m. until 11.00 p.m. So what is a sweat lodge? Well, it is in fact a purification ceremony, a place to cleanse and connect with nature, the elements and the spirit. The sweat lodge is a covered dome created out of bent willow saplings. During the sweat lodge hot volcanic stones are placed in a central pit in the dome and dowsed with water and herbs, creating a therapeutic steam. The stones represent our ancestors and the lodge itself represents the womb of mother earth. Physically the heat and steam are very cleansing. The whole ceremony is incredibly nurturing and helps us to reconnect – cultivating our relationship to the elements, nature and each other. What you need to bring – 2 towels (one for sitting on in the lodge and one to dry yourself with afterwards) swimsuit or equivalent (to wear in the lodge) warm clothing for afterwards food/drink to share with everyone around the fire after the lodge (no alcohol please) white flowers/white candles/incense for the altar (optional) drinking water to share in the lodge We recommend that you have a restful evening prior to the lodge and that you keep the evening after the lodge completely free of engagements. We also ask that all mobile phones be switched off. Cost For Friday Evening Sweat Lodges – £50. If you would like to attend, or require further information, please contact Jason Sewell on tel:  07941 305587 or email: info@turtlelodgehealing.co.uk...

Earth Day 2015

Earth Day 2015

On 22nd April 2015, Ransom Wood invites you to celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day is an annual event, on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.  The Earth Day Network is looking for “Acts of Green” from organisations big and small and with this in mind we are asking you to try to think green for the day. The focus of our day will be to see how many people that work at Ransom Wood can leave their cars at home for the day and come in by a green form of transport. So this may be walking, running, cycling, roller blading, skate boarding or whatever other form of green transport you can think of. Whilst we are helping the environment it will also be a great way of doing a bit of exercise especially for those of us that live a bit further away. If you are going to take part please let us know by emailing us  with the distance, what car you are leaving at home and how you are getting to Ransom Wood. We will then be able to add up all the carbon miles that have been saved to protect our environment. For those that do join in on the day, there will be a complimentary coffee and a pastry awaiting you at Forever Green when you arrive. Again, please contact us before the day to let us know you are joining in, so we can send you a voucher in advance. If you want a shower when you arrive at Ransom Wood and aren’t based at Birch or Hawthorn then please let us know before the day and we can organise this for you. If you are coming by bike then there are bike racks at The Willows, Ransom Hall, Oak House, Birch and Hawthorn or feel free to just find a lamp post to lock your bike up against. Good luck and we look forward to making Ransom Wood even greener on 22nd April 2015. Ransom Wood is a an office park based in 70 acres of woodland, combining office space with a restaurant, woodland walks and pure inspiration. If you are interested in moving your business here, please contact us on 01623 675304675326, email us or click here for more...

Nordic Walking at Ransom Wood

Nordic Walking is the latest revolutionary full body workout. You can work the upper body whilst you’re walking by using specially designed Nordic Walking Poles. Regular classes will be launched from Forever Green, Ransom Wood after Easter. Make the most of the Green Gym that is literally on your doorstep. Originating in the 1930s when cross country skiers devised a way of training in the summer months using just poles, it wasn’t until the 1980s that what is now known as Nordic Walking really began. The benefits include: • Burns 400 calories per hour • Exercises 90% of your skeletal muscle • Releases shoulder / neck tension • Reduces the impact on joints • Requires less effort than normal walking • It’s fun! Pip Bateman is an experienced Instructor and has been Nordic Walking for 8 years.  She will be launching regular weekly classes from Thursday 8th April 2015. Cost: £6 person / Poles are included.   Induction Class is FREE to all Ransom Wood employees. Explore the beautiful woodland that is on your doorstep and keep fit in this most sociable way. “I don’t like going to the gym so Nordic Walking has become part of my weekly fitness routine “ “Like a massage for my neck and shoulders and I sleep so much better” “It is amazing to realize that something easier to do than walking actually burns more calories!” Students are asked to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire prior to taking part. The Induction class will teach you the first steps to Nordic Walking as you become ‘Pole Confident’. All equipment is provided for Nordic Walking. You just need to come dressed for a walk in the park. Whether you are interested in the health benefits or to improve fitness – Nordic walking is the best use of the ‘Green Gym’ around! Nordic walking can make a real difference to your health, fitness and sense of well-being.   Come along and try it – if you can walk, you can Nordic Walk! Pre-booking is essential, so contact Pip to find out further information, class times and to book your place. 01623 406272 / 07833 587091               info@holistichealthteam.com                ...

Making Merry with the Ransomwood Team

We were really pleased to welcome over 100 of you to our Make Merry event at Forever Green last week.  It was great to see you all. Every year we hold a gathering in the Forest Suite which gives us all the opportunity for a bit of a catchup over a mulled wine and a mince pie.  This year we were entertained by The Gentlemen, a small group close harmony choristers who serenaded us with a few carols which we all really enjoyed. You can see our photos from the event on our Facebook page but a selection are below.      ...
