You may have seen the recent social media campaign about Dexter, the Chinese Crested Cross, who went missing from a rescue centre in Blidworth. Amazingly, he’d jumped over a very high fence in an enclosure at the centre to make his escape.
The little chap had been lost for several days in the cold and wet but had been sighted a few times in the woodland near the Rainworth Bypass. The Jerry Green Rescue Centre began a huge campaign locally with many volunteers and supporters offering help.
On Monday morning Dexter was spotted several times on the business park but we couldn’t catch him. He was rather frightened and kept making a run for it. That evening our Director Charles Cannon (now our hero!) found Dexter behind Forever Green. He put some food down to distract him and managed to finally scoop him to safety.
Dexter was soon returned to a very relieved team at Jerry Green who came and collected him.
Martina Martin, the Centre Manager commented “We owe more thank-yous than I can count to all of our supporters who offered advice, went out searching, posting leaflets etc. I do not have the words to express our gratitude. Dexter will be fully checked by our vets as soon as possible but for now he will be given the opportunity to eat a little something and rest.”
