Can you help Men in Sheds?

Work has now started on the new workshop for Men in Sheds and they expect to be opening in January 2021. The group would welcome any donations of both unused tools or business donations of funds or equipment to help them get set up. Equipment has already been donated by the team at Richardson Hall Construction in Oak House and this has been gratefully received.

The group support older men who want to get together and learn new skills as well as men who are isolated or disengaged from their commmunity or are experiencing major changes in life.

Men in Sheds provide the workshop space, tools and equipment and a team of volunteers who support and supervise the daily activities. The members take part in the day to day running of the workshop and decide on the activities they want to follow including woodworking, carving, skill sharing and socialising. This is just a small part of the activities on offer.

The project is aimed at men aged 60+ or under special circumstances younger and it costs £2 per session.

It offers great benefits including

• opportunities to socialise and make new friends
• experience the camaradarie of working with other
• put practical skills to good use and share with others
• the chance to work as part of a team on larger projects
• and not forgetting, a friendly chat over a cup of tea and biscuits

The group make all types of craft and wooden items that they sell to support the workshop and also take on commissions. They are a none profit organisation run solely by volunteers for the benefit of the members and all funds raised are used to support the project.
