Frequently Asked Questions

Take a look at our FAQs below

If you have any other questions please talk to one of the team.

How quickly can I move in?

This depends on the unit you want to move into. We have been known to move people in within a day on our smaller units.

What is the move in process?

After your initial viewing we send you some quotes
  1. You decide on which unit you want to go for
  2. To put a hold on the unit you pay the security bond and any internet connection charge
  3. We confirm a move in date
  4. Meanwhile you sign the license or lease and we prepare the property
  5. You pay the first months rent before the move in date
  6. On move in day – you sign for the keys and photos of the properties condition. We brief you on anything you need to know (security, heating etc)

Do you have any marketing opportunities available on site?

As part of being at Ransom Wood we will give you a free listing on our website and if you have anything to promote we will be happy to add it to our quarterly e-newsletter. We are also happy to promote our tenants on our social media sites and generally promote our tenants by referral when we can. It is in our interests for you to do well.

Do you arrange any events to meet other tenants?

We have a summer BBQ and Christmas drinks  - both are free of charge and a good opportunity to meet other tenants.

Can I bring my dog/cat/pet to work.

If you want to bring your dog to work you must inform us first but we are happy to let you do this. If your dog causes a disturbance to other tenants we will have to tell you to leave the dog at home. If you move out and the dog has caused any damage this will come out of your security bond.

What maintenance staff do you have on site?

We have an electrician and 3 maintenance assistants as well as a network of preferred contractor from plumbers to security specialists. We also have a team of cleaners.

What signage is provided/what can I put up?

Each building has a large name board located externally near its front door – your business name will be added to this before you move in. If you would like to put your name/logo on the wall outside your room we are happy for you to do this but you will need to come and see the estates team to check the size first. If you move out any cost associated with damage to the wall will come out of your security bond. If you would like any further external signage presence we have the opportunity to have an advert/signage on a lamp post banner. As at April 2017 these are £150 per lamp post + vat per annum (excludes the cost of the banner production)

If it snows do you clear the roads?

Our team comes in at around 3am to clear the roads so the park is kept open.

What kitchen facilities are provided?

Depending on the property there will either be a shared kitchen on your floor or you will have your own kitchen. In the shared kitchens there is a cupboard for each tenant and enough fridge capacity for everyone.

Am I allowed to modify the room/add walls/put up shelves etc?

If you want to put up shelves, pictures etc this is fine – just b aware that any holes in the walls will have to be put back to the way they started before you move out – otherwise this will come off your security bond. If you want to change the layout of the room (adding partition walls), we will work out the plans with you then get quotes for the works to add the walls. The works will be chargeable and will have to be put back to the original configuration if you move out.

Is parking included in the license/lease

We have lots of parking on site – this is generally unallocated but some properties have reserved parking.

Do you have facililities for pedal bikes?

We have bike racks outside some of our properties and showers in the willows.

What payment methods do you accept?

We prefer you to set up a standing order for your rent. We accept payments by BACS but you can also pay by debit or credit card if needed via our restaurant for which a charge will apply.

What disabled facilities do you have?

This depends on the property - please enquire for more details.

Is VAT Included?

VAT is not included in our quoted prices so you will have to allow for this.

Still love to walk around. I used to live in the big house at the top of the drive, it was Oak House then and I nursed at Ransom Hospital , Byron Ward which was on the left side of Ransom Hall car park. Oak House used to be Sisters accommodation. I think the main chef lived upstairs when I lived there and just me downstairs mostly. I loved it but had to keep my kitchen door closed because of the squirrels. Loved looking down the drive out of my bedroom and lounge windows, beautiful in Autumn and when it snowed, I worked at Ransom Hospital until it closed in 1987. Wonder why Oak House was later named Ash House? Lovely dining at Forever Green in the grounds whilst I reminisce.
