Extra Special Touch is an artisan embroidery and sewing studio making bespoke wedding and bridal accessories. They specialise in personal embroidered gifts, such as wedding handkerchief, monogram napkins and personalised garters.
Heidi launched Extra Special Touch in 2009, and has been working from her home studio for the last nine years. As the business has outgrown her original space Ransom Wood was the obvious choice for her first commercial studio.
Heidi says “I had been looking for a while to move into a studio space and out of my home studio. Ransom Wood is only a few miles away from home and I love that it is set in the middle of the woods and has such a wonderful feel to the business park. I wanted somewhere to have a working studio space as we make all of our personalised items to order with our embroidery and sewing machines. But I also wanted a welcoming setting so brides could visit us (by appointment only) and have a look at our display of our bespoke wedding and bridal gifts.”
Extra Special touch works with traditional Nottingham Lace, made only a few miles down the road in the last Nottingham lace factory in Ilkeston. They hand make Nottingham Lace handkerchief and garters which can all be personalised by Heidi with names, wedding dates or short messages.
They can also cater for corporate events and are able to embroider your own business brand logo onto napkins and handkerchiefs for special events.
All items are sold via their web site www.extraspecialtouch.co.uk

Love this place
We rent an office here and it’s just such a lovely place to drive into everyday
Still love to walk around. I used to live in the big house at the top of the drive, it was Oak House then and I nursed at Ransom Hospital , Byron Ward which was on the left side of Ransom Hall car park. Oak House used to be Sisters accommodation. I think the main chef lived upstairs when I lived there and just me downstairs mostly. I loved it but had to keep my kitchen door closed because of the squirrels. Loved looking down the drive out of my bedroom and lounge windows, beautiful in Autumn and when it snowed, I worked at Ransom Hospital until it closed in 1987. Wonder why Oak House was later named Ash House? Lovely dining at Forever Green in the grounds whilst I reminisce.
Absolutely spot on as regards setting up a virtual office. Really friendly and helpful reception staff, with onsite meeting rooms available if needed. Very pleased.
Great place for taking pets a walk, lovely cafe with meeting rooms.
A great place
Brilliant place, they have all sorts of businesses there. A cafe, hypnotherapy, hypnopuncture as well many others. Worth a drive up just to see what's there. Furthermore, it's in lovely surroundings.
Just go there and walk for miles! Beautiful views from strawberry hill too.
