GE’s Water Business has Acquired Award Winning Monsal

Congratulations to Monsal, one of our longest standing tenants here at Ransom Wood, who have recently won “Making the Most of Digestate” award at the 2014 AD and Biogas Industry Awards.  They are one of the U.K.’s leading advanced anaerobic digestion and integrated biogas-to-energy businesses and provide advanced technology to treat biosolids and biowaste converting it into renewable energy and saleable byproducts.

Today, Monsal is the advanced digestion (AD) technology supplier of choice for major AD infrastructure projects in the U.K. water and waste markets. Monsal offers a complete technology package to leading utilities, waste management companies and energy developers.

Monsal are also in the news for another reason.  Industry giant GE has recently announced that it has acquired Monsal.  Aidan Cumiskey, managing director of Monsal added: “Joining the GE family will allow Monsal to bring our technologies to a significantly broader audience as well as give us R&D capabilities at a much larger scale than we have now.”

GE Power & Water’s water and process technologies business is a leading global supplier of water treatment, wastewater treatment, water reuse and process systems solutions along with water treatment chemicals and process chemicals. The company provides proven technologies and solutions for water treatment and reuse and continues to invest heavily to enhance current products and to develop new, even more advanced technologies.

“For many years, GE has been working to further the development of water reuse, wastewater and tough-to-treat water technologies. The acquisition of Monsal, with its advanced anaerobic digestion technology, will enable us to provide our customers with more energy-efficient options for water treatment solutions.” said Heiner Markhoff, president and CEO—water and process technologies for GE Power & Water.

“GE’s global expertise and reach in the municipal and industrial water treatment industry is world class and is very complementary to Monsal’s advanced digestion capabilities and our overall strategy for international expansion. Joining the GE family will allow Monsal to bring our technologies to a significantly broader audience as well as give us R&D capabilities at a much larger scale than we have now. We expect to expand our product and technology range with the GE resource, so that we become the ‘go-to’ company globally for anaerobic digestion,” said Aidan Cumiskey, managing director, Monsal.

Still love to walk around. I used to live in the big house at the top of the drive, it was Oak House then and I nursed at Ransom Hospital , Byron Ward which was on the left side of Ransom Hall car park. Oak House used to be Sisters accommodation. I think the main chef lived upstairs when I lived there and just me downstairs mostly. I loved it but had to keep my kitchen door closed because of the squirrels. Loved looking down the drive out of my bedroom and lounge windows, beautiful in Autumn and when it snowed, I worked at Ransom Hospital until it closed in 1987. Wonder why Oak House was later named Ash House? Lovely dining at Forever Green in the grounds whilst I reminisce.
