On the 8th May the team at Ransom Wood finally said goodbye to our long term tenants NHS Property Services who were based at Birch House from 2008. It was a sad day as the park has a long history of hosting the NHS.
When the site was originally bought in 1993 from Welbeck the NHS were an existing office tenant based at Ransom Hall. Of course their real time here dates back to much earlier than this when the site was a hospital. You can see more about that here.
During their time with us the NHS expanded throughout the park to various buildings including Laurel House, The Willows and Beech House and eventually outgrew Ransom Hall overflowing into portacabins.
in 2006 we had started to build Birch House and the NHS saw this as a perfect base for their expanding operations. At circa 30,000 square feet it wasn’t quite big enough so we built Hawthorn House next to it and the two buildings finally became their new homes for the region in 2008.
By 2018 the NHS were under cost pressures and started to close down offices with private landlords to relocate back to bases within their NHS estate so they came out of Hawthorn House. Covid then hit in 2020 and many NHS staff started to work from home. By 2023 the NHS decided to exit from Birch House after more than 30 years on site as a tenant to Ransomwood Estates.
We have many memories of our NHS friends here and want to say a personal thank you for being a part of the Ransom Wood story over these 3 decades. We would like to say a special thank you to Carla Masonbrook for all her support over the years.
