Joshua PR Is Celebrating!

Congratulations from the Ransomwood Estates team to Joshua PR who are celebrating ten years in business this week. The company have been based at Ransom Wood for around 4 years, firstly in Oak House and currently in Ransom Hall. Patrick Smiths tells us how it all began….

In 2008 I ran the London office of a PR agency. Like many small to medium agencies we successfully managed cashflow, profit, staff workloads, wellbeing and many other elements on top of all the client campaigns we ran. We often found that new clients preferred a more flexible approach rather than committing to a 12 month contract as they couldn’t make that commitment from their budget. Small to medium sized PR agencies have no economies of scale to fall back on and are constantly veering from overworked to underpaid. So we decided to restructure the agency model so that clients could get a commitment-free solution and the agency management was smoother and easier. That restructuring became the virtual agency model.

As far as clients are concerned we look and act the same as the traditional agency model – a team of people working on your project, with well-defined KPIs and a clear communication structure. The difference for us is that we don’t all sit together in the same office, but are a group of freelancers who work in a variety of locations and have a variety of working patterns, but are all committed to getting the best possible results for you, the client.

No contracts mean that you can flex your budgets to suit your requirements. You can stop completely for a while and then start again when the time is right, or top-load budgets to achieve a big bang. While behind that we manage the network of freelancers so that every client project has the expertise and skills it needs, but that we also have the revenue we need to continue to run the agency.

We were the first agency to make a virtue of being virtual – when Joshua PR started some other agencies worked on a loose version of this model, but tried to keep it quiet. Now, there are many working this way, but we are the original and the best.

The company is hosting 10th Anniversary celebrations on Thursday evening, 27th September, at Baresca in Nottingham and you are all invited. It’s informal, so you can arrive at any time, but if you’re planning to come along please sign up here so that they can track numbers – http://joshuapr.com/joshua-pr-10/

Still love to walk around. I used to live in the big house at the top of the drive, it was Oak House then and I nursed at Ransom Hospital , Byron Ward which was on the left side of Ransom Hall car park. Oak House used to be Sisters accommodation. I think the main chef lived upstairs when I lived there and just me downstairs mostly. I loved it but had to keep my kitchen door closed because of the squirrels. Loved looking down the drive out of my bedroom and lounge windows, beautiful in Autumn and when it snowed, I worked at Ransom Hospital until it closed in 1987. Wonder why Oak House was later named Ash House? Lovely dining at Forever Green in the grounds whilst I reminisce.
