Where handbags are concerned there’s no “maybe-ing” to be done and with this in mind we’re pleased to welcome Lauren Holloway and her company to Ash House.
Maybe Mabel is a handmade business specialising in designing and creating beautiful and unique handbags, tote bags, clutch purses, make up bags and keychains. Lauren Holloway is the sole creator behind the business, which was founded in early 2013. Lauren has a background in Art & Design but studied Photography in 2002 and worked in this area for ten years before deciding to get back behind a sewing machine and relinquish her passion for textiles and sewing.
Lauren’s designs are categorised by her bold choice of colours and fabrics which she mixes with leather to create attractive but functional bags for everyday use. She works with a mixture of designer cottons and upcycled fabrics and loves scouring the charity shops for materials to recycle, from curtains to leather jackets.
Her shop has a wide range of bags which are made to order but she can also create bespoke pieces and works closely with her customers to design their perfect bag just for them. Take a look at her website www.maybemabelhandmade.etsy.com
Lauren commented, “Ransomwood seemed the ideal place for me to set up my first ‘proper’ studio as it is such a beautiful place to work and really close to home. All the staff have been so helpful and I am really looking forward to being part of the Ransomwood community”.
