Welcome SPG UK Limited

SPG – UK, established in 2012 by three local businessmen with over 60 years’ combined experience in power generators, has chosen Ransom Wood Business Park in Mansfield as its national base for operations as it seeks to establish and grow in the multi-million emergency power market.

“The UK power generation industry is facing increasing pressures to deliver “green” energy, resulting in pressure to close traditional coal-fired power stations and out-of-date nuclear facilities” says SPG’s Managing Director, Bobby Palmer. “As a result, the system is operating ever-closer to capacity and an increasing number of businesses and facilities like hospitals, which depend on a constant and reliable source of electricity, are seeking the reassurance which onsite power generators provide. We intend to meet this need through a complete “turn-key” service for our customers.”

SPG – UK chose Ransom Wood for its attractive working environment and because Mansfield seemed the logical choice for its directors, who all hail from Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire. “We know the area through working here in the past and are confident that we can recruit local people with the skills and experience we need as we grow in the future” said Contracts Director, John Spencer. “The country-wide access provided by the M1 locally is also a boost to us, as we operate all over the country”.

James Cannon, Managing Director of Ransom Wood Estates said “we’re delighted to welcome SPG – UK to our site here in Mansfield. With their clear ambitions for growth, SPG needed a flexible solution to their accommodation requirements, which we were happy to provide”.

Still love to walk around. I used to live in the big house at the top of the drive, it was Oak House then and I nursed at Ransom Hospital , Byron Ward which was on the left side of Ransom Hall car park. Oak House used to be Sisters accommodation. I think the main chef lived upstairs when I lived there and just me downstairs mostly. I loved it but had to keep my kitchen door closed because of the squirrels. Loved looking down the drive out of my bedroom and lounge windows, beautiful in Autumn and when it snowed, I worked at Ransom Hospital until it closed in 1987. Wonder why Oak House was later named Ash House? Lovely dining at Forever Green in the grounds whilst I reminisce.

Brilliant place, they have all sorts of businesses there. A cafe, hypnotherapy, hypnopuncture as well many others. Worth a drive up just to see what's there. Furthermore, it's in lovely surroundings.
