What A Busy Week !

You will all know our Estates team – Carl, Tony, Simon, Ben and Ricky. Always on hand to help out with everything from putting up a noticeboard to snow clearing. It’s a huge task every week to keep on top of all the scheduled maintenance for every building on the park as well as handle all the daily call outs which we can’t plan for. We thought you’d like to see what the team got up to last week and we’re sure you will agree that they are all doing a fab job.

In the last week we’ve…….

  • Changed 42 floodlight bulbs to LED’s to help improve our carbon footprint
  • Fitted 7 new advertising banners along the drive
  • Repaired the roof at Oak House A
  • Raised the new Union Jack at Ransom Hall
  • Cleaned the guttering at Forever Green
  • Trimmed all the trees so that all the signage can be read properly
  • Strimmed the grass verges and cleared the nettles on the drive
  • Repaired guttering at Unit 9, The Firs, Oak House and Ash House
  • Repaired the Net 2 security system for the NHS
  • Installed kitchen units at Ransom Hall
  • Replaced office lighting in in Laurel, Birch and Hawthorn House
  • Decorated two offices in Ash House
  • Swept and cleared the Forever Green frontage and car park at Cedar House
  • Cleaned all the smoking shelters at Laurel House, Forever Green, Ransom Hall and The Willows
  • Carried out various toilet repairs in Birch House
  • Repaired a stand pipe at Unit 9
  • Fished for goldfish

Yes, you’ve read that last one correctly. At Ransom Hall we have a pond and we’ve discovered a leak! Ben has been catching all the goldfish which we will keep in a tank whilst we have the pond repaired.

James Cannon, M.D. of Ransomwood Estates commented “Thanks to the maintenance team for all the hard work- definitely been a brilliant week and lots achieved”.

Still love to walk around. I used to live in the big house at the top of the drive, it was Oak House then and I nursed at Ransom Hospital , Byron Ward which was on the left side of Ransom Hall car park. Oak House used to be Sisters accommodation. I think the main chef lived upstairs when I lived there and just me downstairs mostly. I loved it but had to keep my kitchen door closed because of the squirrels. Loved looking down the drive out of my bedroom and lounge windows, beautiful in Autumn and when it snowed, I worked at Ransom Hospital until it closed in 1987. Wonder why Oak House was later named Ash House? Lovely dining at Forever Green in the grounds whilst I reminisce.
