Councillor Kate Alsop joined invited guests and the team from Cedar House to celebrate the launch of the new nursery which opened on Monday 2nd September here at Ransom Wood.
Cedar House has been completely refurbished inside and out over recent months with very impressive results. The facilities include a baby room, toddler room and pre-school room as well as a great outdoor space for the children to play and learn. This features a wig-wam village and a fairy glen.
Steve Doubtfire commented “During the recent OFSTED visit the panel were very complimentary and extremely excited to see how we grow in partnership with Ransomwood Estates. They see this as a flagship setting for Nottinghamshire and one of the team who visited said the only nursery she has ever seen to match the quality of provision was one in Denmark when their NCC team visited the country as part of a learning visit to look at the best they had on offer!”
A friendly, welcoming atmosphere will be created at Cedar House based on warm and caring relationships between the nursery staff and the children. We want children to feel safe, stimulated and happy in the setting and to feel secure and comfortable with staff. We also want parents to have confidence in both their children’s well-being and their role as active partners with the setting.
Steve, Christine and the team aim to make the setting a welcoming place where children settle quickly and easily. Contact them for further details of this great environment for your child.

A poem about Cedar House nursery written by Alex and Laura Jones.
As you drive up the road, peeking out through the trees
Stands a lovely white house like you wouldn’t believe…….

The nursery staff had arranged a special visit by Nottinghamshire Fire Brigade so that the little ones could learn all about what it’s like to be a fireman. How exciting!
